HANGED & DRAWN: NICHOLAS DI GENOVA PIERRE DURETTE TOM NGO AMANDA NEDHAM TRISTRAM LANSDOWNE LUKE PAINTER
Friday May 27th at LE GALLERY (1183 Dundas St. W) The last decade in the international art world has seen the act of drawing and graphic tendencies welcomed into the hallowed halls of arts institutions. Typically sidelined as a less than serious pursuit or as a means of preparation and study, Hanged + Drawn thrusts 6 Canadian artists of inimitable skill and talent forward as the vanguard of this new generation of mark makers. Hanged + Drawn highlights artists who are forming the basis of their artistic practices in their unique ability to develop a distinctly drawn language. These artists have found themselves the focus of critical contemporary collectors and institutions, having shown in almost all major international art fairs and within museums and institutions across North America + Europe.Facebook event pagehere.
Adrienne Kammerer's exquisite graphite drawings depict an ongoing narrative exploring the history of magic set in a fictitious past. Through beautifully rendered figurative portraits and environments, Kammerer intuitively combines historic folklore with documented and imagined instances of magic, mythology and the occult. Drawing influence from the fear and superstitions rooted in childhood, Kammerer's images conjure memories of the past while offering a subtly dark humor indicative of their present existence. Adrienne Kammerer is a self taught artist hailing from Burlington, Ontario. Currently residing in Toronto.
